About Us

Topeka Crochet--or TopC, for short--was founded in April 2008, and is a Chapter of the Crochet Guild of America. Our purpose is to promote crochet in Topeka and the surrounding areas through exhibitions, crocheting for local charities, education, demonstrations, and workshops.

Our vision is to be an active part of the community while providing creative ways for crocheters to get together and share their craft with each other and those around them. Knitters and other needle artists are welcome to join us as well.

How do I become a member of this group?

Basically, just be involved on a level that suits your needs and schedule and fill out a contact form at one of our meetings. At this time, we do not require dues; instead, we rely on the members to pitch in on occasion when there's a need.

Those who wish to take part have opportunities available to do charity work for the community. These are all done on a voluntary basis.

One does not have to be a member of the Crochet Guild of America to be part of this chapter. It is open to anyone who enjoys crochet and/or wants to learn more about it and make friends along the way. Teens are welcome as well. Younger participants should be accompanied by an adult.

When & Where We Meet:

Regular meetings are the first and third Sundays of each month (except major holidays) and take place at the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. When first entering the library, check their events board for the room number. Other events are planned at the meetings and may or may not be listed on this site.

Informal gatherings are every Thursday at Baker's Dozen, 4310 SW 21st Street starting at 6:30 and lasting for two to three hours. Bring your crochet and share a donut and fun conversation with some of our members.

TopC reserves the right to cancel any meeting without prior notice.

We also accepted donated yarn, which is used to make charitible items.

Don't know how to crochet, but would like to learn?

Our meetings are often busy with a pre-planned agenda, which makes it sometimes difficult to find the time to teach; however, someone will always try to help get you started. Contact us for more information. Private lessons or classes are also available for a fee.
