About Us

Topeka Crochet, or TopC for short, is a Chapter of the Crochet Guild of America, whose purpose is to promote crochet in Topeka and the surrounding areas through exhibitions, crocheting for local charities, education, demonstrations, and workshops.

Our vision is to be an active part of the community while providing creative ways for crocheters to get together and share their craft with each other and those around them.

How do I become a member of this group?

Basically, just be involved on a level that suits your needs and schedule and fill out a contact form at one of our meetings. At this time, we do not require dues; instead, we rely on the members to pitch in on occasion when there's a need.

Those who wish to take part have opportunities available to do charity work for the community. These are all done on a voluntary basis.

One does not have to be a member of the Crochet Guild of America to be part of this chapter. It is open to anyone who enjoys crochet and/or wants to learn more about it and make friends along the way. Teens are welcome as well. Younger participants should be accompanied by an adult.

Meeting & Event Schedule:
Meetings are the first and third Sundays of each month and take place at the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. When first entering the library, check their events board for the room number if it isn't listed below or in the sidebar news. Other events are talked about at the meetings and may or may not be listed on this site.

There are no public meetings in the month of December; however, members will have a Christmas party & a Yarn Drive. The new year will start on January 3, 2010.

TopC is One Year Old!

Topeka Crochet celebrated its first anniversary on April 20, 2009. We have about 30 members, with 15 being active on a regular basis. Newcomers are welcome to join us at anytime.

Don't know how to crochet, but would like to learn?

Our meetings are often busy with a pre-planned agenda, which makes it sometimes difficult to find the time to teach; however, someone will always try to help get you started. Contact us for more information. Private lessons or classes are also available for a fee.
